Maintainers: Individuals who set up and manage Auto-Successor for their Open Source Projects.
Successors: Individuals designated by a Maintainer to potentially take over a project.

We collect information primarily to operate the Auto-Successor service, including initiating succession triggers and notifying relevant parties.

Usage Data: Details about how you use the Service (e.g., timestamps of login, configuration changes, badge clicks).
Technical Data: IP address, device type, operating system, browser type.
Inactivity Data: Data accessed via the GitHub API (with your authorization) regarding repository activity (e.g., last commit, last pull request). We only monitor activity necessary to meet the Inactivity Criteria defined by the Maintainer.

How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:
With the Public (Open Source Visibility): The GitHub IDs of the Maintainer and all designated Successors are publicly shared via the Auto-Successor badge on the repository to provide transparency to the community.
With Designated Successors: If an Auto-Succession is triggered, we release the Testament (instructions) provided by the Maintainer only to the specific Successor who is next in line.
With Service Providers: We use third-party service providers for essential functions like email delivery, SMS notifications, and hosting (e.g., AWS, SendGrid). These providers are bound by strict contractual confidentiality obligations and are only authorized to use the data necessary to perform their services.
For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with legal obligations, protect our rights or property, or ensure the safety of our users.
Data Security & Retention
You have the right to choose whether or not to accept non-essential cookies.
5.1 Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data, particularly the Testament, against accidental loss, unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure. These measures include data encryption, access controls, and regular security audits.
5.2. Retention
We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.
Configuration Data: Retained until the Maintainer deactivates the Service for the relevant repository.
Testament: Securely stored and retained until a succession event occurs (when it is released) or until the Maintainer deletes the configuration.
Usage Data: Retained for a limited period to perform analysis and improve the Service.
International Data Transfers (GDPR Compliance)
If your personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA), we ensure a degree of protection is afforded to it by implementing at least one of the following safeguards:
